8:30 -1:00 PM
Description:
During the unmounted part of the day, you will learn about what’s happening in the fox hunting field: “Why are they doing that?” and “What does that mean?”
In the ring with your horse, Yvonne Wilson, professional whip and lifelong fox hunter, will teach us essential exercises for being safe while hunting:
This is an excellent opportunity to learn how a hunt works, ask those burning questions (there are no stupid questions), and introduce a green horse and/or rider to this exciting sport. Individual and group safety is our top concern.
Lunch will be provided following the session. Please bring folding chairs for the unmounted portion.
**Stalls can be provided for a limited number of horses instead of standing in hot trailers!**
Location:
East Belmont
164 E Belmont Farm, Keswick
Time: 9:00 – 10:30 AM
Description:
You must participate in Day 1 to join Day 2.
Mounted clinic attendees will be taken on a ‘Mock Fox Hunt.’ Paul Wilson, Keswick’s Huntsman, will introduce horses to hounds and lead us out. We will practice in the mock hunt field everything we learned yesterday with the help of mounted Keswick Hunt Club members and our clinician. Our clinician will be on a UTV to better assist participants.
Yvonne Wilson
Yvonne has fox hunted for 50+ years. She grew up in England and comes from a foxhunting/pony club family that introduced her to the sport at a very young age. Yvonne has been a professional whipper-in for 17 years and she currently rides green horses for clients in all 3 flights at Keswick Hunt Club. Her expertise hails from experience hunting in England,
Ireland, Italy, Canada, and her current residence, the USA. Many horses and riders have learned the sport under her guidance and have gone on to have very successful careers. Yvonne is a wealth of knowledge capable of helping along beginners to advanced foxhunters. In her free time, outside of hunting, she enjoys bringing along her homebred horses in the discipline of Eventing. Yvonne looks forward to developing a clinic tailored to the needs of the participants and what they would like to learn or work on. Please be sure to fill out the form attached and express what you are most interested in practicing.
